This year’s festival will once again offer a range of guided walks across the hills, in collaboration with the Wild Atlantic Hikers and a wonderful team of volunteers to ensure a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience for all participants.

🌄 Saturday Walks – April 4, 2026

 

🏔️ Long Walk: Tievebaun Loop out to Truskmore

Distance: 10km | Height Gain: 647m | Duration: 6 hours

Very challenging; suitable only for very fit, experienced hillwalkers

Transport: Bus from Aghanlish Community Centre to Eagle’s Rock car park (start/end point)

Route overview:

·                     1km level walk on bog road to base of Tievebaun (Whiteside)

·                     Very steep 500m climb on narrow trail to Tievebaun shoulder

·                     2km southeast walk to Truskmore TV mast (647m)

·                     Return to Tievebaun shoulder after lunch

·                     2km north to summit of Tievebaun (611m)

·                     Return via Tievebaun shoulder and same route to car park

·                     Views of Glenade Valley, Hags Leap, Glenade Lake, Donegal Bay, Bluestack Mountains

💡 Steep ascents and descents. Leaders may adjust the route based on conditions.




🏔️ Medium Walk: Eagle’s Rock Carpark to Tievebaun Loop.

Distance: 6.6km | Height Gain: 611m | Duration: 4-5 hours
Reasonably good level of hillwalking fitness needed.

Transport: Bus from Aghanlish Community Centre to Eagle’s Rock car park (start/end point)

Route overview:

· 1km level walk on bog road to base of Tievebaun (Whiteside)

🌳 Sunday Walk – April 5, 2026

🌼 Largydonnell Mountain

Distance: 6km | Height Gain: 270m | Duration: 4 hours
Gentle but rewarding hike, suitable for most fitness levels.

Route overview:

Starting at Aghanlish Community Centre, this is a very relaxing easy scenic walk to the foothills of Largydonnell Mountain and back by same route. There is a gentle ascent to the highest point which is 270 metres. Our walkers will have wonderful views of Donegal Bay and Glenade Valley.

💡 A relaxed pace with plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings.

Aghanlish Community Centre Refreshments:

·   Saturday Morning (Registration): Complimentary tea, coffee, and scones.

·  Sunday Post-Walk: Complimentary soup and brown bread.

By registering for our walks, you agree to the following;

I for myself, my executors, administrators and assigns hereby release disclaim and discharge the organisers of the above walk (including the Guides) and also the landowners or occupiers over whose land the walk traverses from all liability in respect of personal injury occurring to myself, howsoever caused, and all loss and damage to my property caused before during or 24 hours after the walk. 

I understand that I participate in the walks completely at my own risk.

I understand that if any person participating in this walk, including myself, helps others, for example by advising a route, showing the way, reading a map or SatNav/GPS, helping others over fences, steep or rough terrain, streams or such obstacles, or making suggestions, that does not incur or imply any responsibility on that participant.
